Here is a list of components that I'm planning on for a new build that will be running Windows 7 once it comes out next month. For now I'll just run XP Pro so here we go:

I had considered a Blu-ray drive but I really have no use for one at this time. This system will pull double duty both work and play. I have a few parts that I will use from my current system i.e. mouse/keyboard, speakers and so on.

So what do you all think? I still have a little left in my budget so any suggestions would be welcomed and considered. I don't plan on OCing it right away though to get the speed from the RAM I might have to. If I left anything out let me know so I can add it.

Thanks in advance...

Drop that 975 to a 920 D0. Most are hitting 4 Ghz no problem anyway. Matching the 3.33 stock speed would be like eating cake. Also, with the extra money you save, wait a few days for ATIs release of the 5870, and get 2 of those. 1 5870 is about on par with 2 4890's, so you're doubling your graphical performance right there. Also, go with a TRUE or a Megahalems for your CPU cooler.

Other than that, looks solid.

I agree with all those suggestions, especially the CPU dropping down to a 920. The only thing I might change is the SSD. Have ya considered a pair (or more) of 60/64GB SSDs and running em in RAID 0?

Maybe with the savings of getting a 920, you could get 2x80gb G2 drives and raid. They would be BLAZING fast.
