I know this machine is quite old. It was purchased December of 2005. We have had another issue with this motherboard causing it not to post in the past. We sent it to ASUS and it took them over two months to send us back a replacement. They hinted at the fact that they do not have any more replacement boards for this mobo. When we got it back, it worked fine for a few months with all of these components. Now this is happening.

For this issue, we ordered another power supply from newegg but the same issue occurs. We are planning on returning the power supply.

I would love to resolve this, but I think it's going to end up being the motherboard again. I'm open to any troubleshooting you all may suggest though.

If it is the motherboard, we would like to replace it as cheaply as possible. The ASUS PSN32-SLI Deluxe is discontinued, and so is the Intel Pentium 4 650 Prescott 3.4GHz LGA 775 84W Single-Core Processor. What motherboard (preferably ASUS) is out there that will run this processor, and how much will it cost? Also, what would be the cost of replacing the mobo and processor comparable to this?

Also, he is using the built in RAID array on the P5N32 to run RAID 5 so if we replace the motherboard we are going to need a standalone raid...

well to me it does indeed sound like a mobo issue... im not sure how cheap you need to go but i would suggest this route

if you dont mind open box
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131299R
as i just picked upa P43 open box for $59. the one i linked to has Raid support thru the ICH10R. it also supports your CPU as well and if you wanted a good replacement i would get this one.

E5200
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819116072&Tpk=E5200
Otherwise conder the E2200 or even E1400

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819116069&Tpk=E1400

all the cpus listed will kill that data P4 arch...

Thanks for the links.

How about if we got a open box Biostar and just kept the same processor. Would this work? It would only be $40 - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813138079R

The only problem is this doesn't support RAID 5, but we could get/borrow a stand alone card I suppose. We just want to get the data, then we can wipe it and make it RAID 1. Is there an easier/cheaper way to get that RAID 5 data off of those drives than buying a hardware RAID controller and hoping it works?

not unless you got a friend with the same kind of setup. that will let you throw your drives in to get the info.

If I went with that open box ASUS, would the RAID 5 Sata hard drives work in that machine? Could I simply plug them in and have it pick them up?

Also, are you sure that open box ASUS supports a Prescott processor?

yes it supports it, it has to be backward compitable with older cpus. yes if you setup the raid 5 on the board you should have no issues. though the raid drivers may need to be installed, which would possible mean a "repair" run of XP or 2k if you have it. at the startup of XP/win2k you will need "f2" to load up the intel raid drivers. things should be ok... though if you want the safest route track down another board like that one or get another NV based board with raid 5 support. have you thought about ebay for getting the board?
