In For the Long Run

Some news place said Via was thinking about selling its CPU business. Via denies this, saying in essence, “Just when things are starting to get good, we’re going to sell?”

In the long run, Via probably believes its CPU business will be more important than anything else its currently doing. They may be wrong in the long run, but for now, they’re right in thinking so.

If Intel and AMD keep striving for more, more, more despite the increasing calls of “No mas.” Via’s approach of “cheap, quiet, and good enough” could do extraordinarily well.

Of course, if Via got offered the deal of the century, they’d probably take it, but the supposed buyer is Transmeta. They don’t even have enough money to offer a deal of the day.

I think not.
