Leisure Links

Here are some links to ponder rather than play solitaire.

Terrafugia

“The Transition® combines the unique convenience of being able to fold its wings with the ability to drive on any surface road in a modern personal airplane platform.”

Yup – the flying car thing; actually looks like a serious offering, and actually not that pricey at $200,000.

National Pi Day

Just in case you missed it last week and it’s not the kind you throw.

Intel’s Atom Coming Out At 2 GHz

One of the joys of waiting – I never buy rev 1 of anything, and never for hardware. Looks like the Atom will only get better over time, further blurring the distinction between netbooks and notebooks.

My Reward For The Most Unproven Article

“Microsoft and its partners are reaping big rewards from the $300 million Windows marketing campaign.”

What horse-pucky; one would think that a depression would trump any marketing campaign, especially from the crowd that thought Jerry Seinfeld could sell Microsoft.

IE8 Still The SLowest Browser

“Microsoft Corp. may be talking up the performance boost it gave to its just-launched Internet Explorer 8, but the new browser remains the slowest of the top five on the market, benchmark tests show.”

Riddle me this: How does a company spend billions of dollars on research and come up with stuff like Vista and IE8 that is, what’s the word… Sucks! The bigger the company, the more likely stuff gets done by committee and guess what suffers.
