G.Skill recently released a few new special kits of DDR4 that feature super-fast XMP profiles and including one that is dual rank. Within the enthusiast PC community, there’s been a whole lot of buzz about dual-rank memory modules and how they offer superior performance for some benchmarks and games. Simply put, this means there are ICs on both sides of the memory PCB for better interleaving and thus better performance. We reached out to G.Skill and they sent us their new dual-rank flagship product, the unbelievably fast 2 x 16 GB 4000 CL16-19-19 Trident Z Royal.

XPG Spectrix D50 Extreme DDR4: Elite Memory for Serious Enthusiasts

With DDR5 on the horizon, we have entered into the final phase of DDR4 DRAM IC production. Lately, speedy XMP profiles have emerged such as 4400 CL16 and 3800 CL14, which are a far cry from the early days of DDR4. Not to be out shadowed, companies like Micron and SK Hynix have been pushing the high-frequency limit and making great advancements there as well. Today we have the opportunity to test one such memory kit that’s pushing the high-frequency limits. ADATA sent us their Spectrix D50 Extreme, which has an incredible XMP rating of 5000 MHz CL19.

Bitspower CPU LN2 Container

Extreme overclockers use exotic cooling substances such as dry ice and liquid nitrogen to cool down computer hardware. Transferring that amazing cooling power to a computer CPU can be a complicated and difficult process. To simplify this complex problem, Bitspower International released special CPU cooler which has been designed to be used exclusively with liquid nitrogen (typically called a “pot”). We obtained a sample of their new cooler and will use it to overclock the Intel Core i9-10900K processor on the new Z490 platform.

Mushkin Redline Frostbyte DDR4 Review

Up on the test bench today is a DDR4 offering from Mushkin Enhanced. Their Redline Frostbyte features speedy XMP profiles and aggressive styling, but will it be compatible with AMD’s newest generation of motherboards? Memory compatibility on AMD’s X570 series platform is still problematic at best. Many of the memory kits on the market today were designed with Intel platforms in mind. Choosing a kit of memory at random and expecting it to work flawlessly on AMD platforms could end in a comparability nightmare. We’d like to explore this memory further and put it to the test on our AMD X570 based test bench.
