Today we have the opportunity to put the HIS 6870 IceQ under the magnifying glass. Some of you that read the front page may be scratching your heads a bit saying, ‘Didn’t Overclockers.com already do this?’. You would be right, more or less. This version, however, has HIS’s monster IceQ cooler strapped to the top of this upper mid-range card and different stock clock speeds.
Today we have a unique feature from HIS and Lucid to test out. I’m sure most of you have heard of Lucid Hydra, and it being implemented on motherboards to allow GPUs from AMD and nVidia to play nice with one another. Well, HIS decided to try putting one of Lucid’s chips on an HD6970 to allow this AMD and nVidia intermingling, and they call this feature MIX.
Today we will take a high-level look into the world of benchmarking: CPU and GPU benchmarks, benchmarking tools and much more. Specifically, we will be looking at thirteen point-scoring benchmarks listed at HWBOT.org as well as the more common utilities used for overclocking and submitting scores to their system.
