Merlin's D27 Taipan didn't work so well for me. TicTac's D26 Manta Ray XT with L12 seems more stable for me. Both are known to hit 270FSb.

I'm waiting for TicTac to mod the new D27 to Manta Ray.

What cpu is this built-in L12 mod for? Does it actually work?

You don't need to do a L12 mod unless you have a XP-mobile. It shoud just work for XP-desktops. Well.. for the Manta Ray anyway --> not sure about the Taipan.

There are 2 different L12 mods. One for a 133mhz desktop and one for a 133mhz mobile. I have a 2600 mobile (havent updated my sig yet).

Tell us which modules and brand you have please. I have a pair of 512 Buffalo Hynix BTD43 that's why I'm curious.

I don't know about anyone else but this is a pretty powerful BIOS. Even with CPC off it's pretty amazing. I did some testing with my RAM at 2.5,2,2,11 @2.7 at 233mhz and my Chip at (233X10.5) and my 9800Pro with and XT flash running stock XT speeds and I'm getting 19171 3Dmark2001. This was a dry run with Winamp playing and Some Bittorrents going. I used to get 189xx with the old D26 TaiPan CPC off.

P.S. I use these speeds because I'm 100% Sure they are stable and they let me know what kind of baseline gain I get.

I don't know what the hell the patch did but my system starts with just a quarter pass of the Windows XP bar and my system seems to be a bit snappier.

Hmmm....this def. sounds good! For bios's though, I usually wait until they are out of the alpha/beta stages...since they can screw up a LOT, lol

Btw, this bios has sata 4250 in it, right? I believe all the new d27's should, but I wanna make sure...and merlin NEVER states what's in his bios's, lol

This SATA 4250 recognizes my Raptor 74gb incorrectly. The 4247 and 4227 both recognized it as 70 something (I think 73?), but DEFINITELY not 69. 4250 says 69GB, no clue why. I'm not having any other problems, though.

hm I have a raptor as well, I'm waiting to get my board back from hell-fire at xtremesystems, he did some mods for me, and I was wondering which bios to use, is this a problem or not really?

If anything it's reading it more correctly now. Before it read it as 1000mb=1gig now it's 1024mb=1gig. It's telling you what Windows would see it as.

which one out of the three is the best?
1) D27_TaiPan_0.1_EB_ED_Bpl_3.19_08.12.04
2) D27_TaiPan_0.2_EB_ED_Bpl_3.19C_16.12.04
3) D27_TaiPan_0.2_EB_ED_Bpl_3.19_16.12.04

Yes, I know how that works with the 1024... it's all done like that b/c of powers of 2. I know all about that stuff my man =). I already did the math before hand.

74,000mb * (1gb/1024mb) = 72.27gb
--> 72.27 - 69 = 3.27gb difference( :eek: )

That is nothing close to 69gb that SATA 4250 recognizes it as... although there is an up side to this SATA revision. I think my windows loads faster.

I'm not home right now, but when I am I'm going to double check one other thing... when it goes to the SATA Silicon screen to detect SATA drives it used to take a few seconds (maybe 1-3seconds). I've been on SATA HDDs before that detect so fast in the SATA Bios screen. I'm going to check to see if this revision detects my raptor faster. I think maybe it's my raptor that detects slowly. I have a Samsung 160gb SATA 7200 that detects faster in the SATA Bios screen than my Raptor (just compare my Rig #1 in my sig to Rig #2)... #2 loads SATA faster. I think #2 uses 4247, not sure.

**Edit: Oh snap! I just remembered... I think the Raptor 74gb are not 74,000mb. I was thinking... since they have a 36.7 version it's probably double that, right? So maybe it's 36.7 * 2 = 73.4? Anyways, 69gb is still wrong either way. I will also check the drive capacity in WinXP when I do get home. Sorry for the confusion.**

im using some tccd chips from pqi .. also have the har nod for L12..

Which Ram is that... PQI which ones? I bought PQI turbo pc3200 plat for a friend. Just curious if I gave him TCCD or not. Let me know which revision you have and its potential =). Thanks.

So far, what do you all think about this bios? Are ur fsb's increasing at all?

So far, I've got 226fsb stable in windows (well a couple hours so far)....230 2-2-2-11 works fine in memtest, but not in windows (could have been my cpu though...)

This is w/ d26 taipan, btw...
