eXtreme Power Supply Calculator Lite
 
Woah, my system uses alot less power then I thought. I know this thing doesnt take the place of actual hardware monitoring, but it says I can run my system off of a 300w psu...
 
The Lite calculator is quite accurate for my rig. It recommends 430W and my wall power from KillaWatt is 460W, steady state, fully loaded, at max OC in CPU and GPU. However, I would recommend plenty of extra reserve power to handle the big power transients that the 8800GTX puts on the system.

Well I'll tell you this: I sold dozens of systems with 8800GT a 400W HEC psu and a friend of mine was running the same one with a 8800GTS 640mb until last week but he moved to the Corsair 450VX because he wanted something quiet.
Don't get me wrong, I'm all for the Corsair VX/HX :beer:
 
Supposedly I need right around 570W for my system. Will have to break out the kill-a-watt tomorrow but I kinda doubt that figure is accurate.

You are configuring two 5430 quad processor chips? What motherboard are you planning to use? Where are you going to put the heatsinks? If you are going to overclock them, 650W could be reasonable...
 
no overclocking, the mobo will be an ASUS DSBV-DX heatsink where go in their normal spot... on the cpu :p
 
I could not find a CPU power spec for the 5430 but similar quads require, at most, 130W at spec speeds (2.66 GHz). You have no graphics card, so 650W seems to be a lot more than you need. Maybe the Power Calculator is uing incorrect data for the 5430.

I was just wondering, because Im running a 600w super flower aurora (Haven't read too much about it, the one review I did see said it wasn't the greatest), and was planning to switch to a PSU with 110v support (bought thi in switzerland, 230v only, going to go back to the US for college in a few months) and its good to know I wont have to be buying a 750w psu anytime soon :) .

And I put in my little project: needs a 92w PSU (don't have the 8400 in it, its 120w with it) :clap: and I bet its actually lower since it doesn't have a mobile/low power motherboard option. Got to love those mobile cpus :D

Intel Xeon E5430 2667 MHz Harpertown has 80W TDP, not 130W.

all at 100% usage and it gave me a raiting of 621watts, how accurate is it ? if i used a 650watt psu would that be enough ?

if 650 isnt enough which psu is best f rom the oens below ?

I suspect you used Quad Sockets for System Type, which means you have 4x Intel Xeon E5430 2667 MHz Harpertown. You need to select Dual Sockets as you have two processors.

I get 456W with your configuration, all at 100%.

True, very true. Before I had Single, Dual and Quad Processor listed but it seemed to confuse poeple a lot. So, I changed it to sockets. It helped, but still, there are some confusions.

What whould you suggest?
