If you were having problems booting it probably is not the HDD. And just why do you have a HDD with serious important data on an easily accessible hotswap bay / USB dock? Because I find it ridiculously hard to believe that your brother cracked open your computer just to smash a hard drive.
 
Get an SSD (if the story is true) so he can't bash it again unless he uses a hammer or something.
 
The fans stopping is a particularly bad sign, probably a short.
Likely the PSU in short-circuit-protection mode.

LGA pins can be a PITA.

I betcha it would have made it too if the HDD. Wasn't fudged...

Yep, and I hit 9 GHz on mine on air cooling.


The error related to startup sounds like the CPU_FAN error... Just go into BIOS by pressing F1 as instructed, then Ignore that fan.
