Corsair Launches New Hydro Series H100i and H115i RGB Platinum CLC Coolers

Corsair has launched two new Closed Loop Coolers (CLCs) with the H100i and H150i RGB Platinum coolers. The new pair of coolers is said to improve cooling performance as well as the RGB lights across the fans and pump head over the outgoing non-platinum family. Corsair says this is the first Hydro series coolers to feature customizable RGB lighting.

Corsair Hydro Series H100i/H115i RGB Platinum CLC

Each of the new CLCs in the Hydro series range is cooled by a pair of Corsair ML Pro series RGB magnetic levitation (hence the “ML”) fans which are controlled via PWM. The fans are intended for radiators with good airflow and high static pressure to push that air through the radiator. The ML fans have ultra-low friction in the bearings said to generate less heat and noise than traditional bearing fans, even when spinning at higher RPMs. The H115i RGB Platinum uses two 140 mm fans on a 280 mm radiator, while the H100i RGB Platinum includes two 120 mm fans and a 240 mm radiator.

The Hydro Series Platinum coolers use a thermally optimized copper cold plate and PWM control over the fans. The H100i RGB Platinum fans can be set between 400 and 2400 RPM while the H115i RGB Platinum’s larger fans can be set between 400 and 2000 RPM. In an effort to keep noise levels low, the cooler has zero RPM cooling profiles which stops the fans entirely at low temperatures. This combined with a low-noise pump design, Corsair says results in “exceptionally quiet coolers that efficiently channel heat out of the CPU to the radiator without an excess of distracting noise”.

The Hydro RGB Platinum series is the first in Corsair’s lineup to include customizable RGB lighting on both the fans and pump head. The pump contains 16 individually addressable LEDs along with four in each fan combine for a total of 24 RGB LEDs which should allow for a lot of visual flexibility on the device. Combine this with their iCUE software and the user has a complete ecosystem controlled by one piece of software. iCUE is able to directly control pump and fans speeds, as well as create custom cooling curves which automatically adjust based on different monitored system temperatures. On the RGB side of things, the software enables full customization of the 24 RGB LEDs for dynamic changes based on CPU temperature, included patterns and effects, or custom and can be synchronized across all Corsair iCUE-compatible components and peripherals.
