2.4A not going past ~2.8GHZ

i got my system in my sig, ive oced it to 2.8 fine, but once i try to go past that, i gotta change my ram speed from 333 to 266. if its at 333, it wont even POST. my memory is a PNY d256mpc270pt, which is 333mhz stock.I have all of the memory settings at auto,except the memory speed.
why is this happening? any ideas? also, is the CPU CMOS VID setting something that is relevant to this?

I think its your memory. I have a 2.4a that will run 3.4 stable and boot to windows and let me get screen shots at 3.6

Sounds like the memory to me too. If you are going to OC. Don't buy cheap memory.
