I just got a 60 tp 80mm adaptor for my heatsink for my modest system, but alas, the heatsink is too small to put the adaptor on. The new fan is a 80mm Vantech Stealth fan.

CPU is Celeron533mhz. I'm not sure on the exact mobo, but its an Abit. I'm guesssing that the current hs and fan is about 40mm. Is it possible to get a 60mm and fit it in? If so, where can I get 'em???

TES! It is a clip mounting HS!

I'm just saying that what if the new HS is too big and won't clip on? I'll try measure the base tomorrow.

socket A and socket 370 use the same retention system

Almost but not exactly the same. The socket A has 3 lugs whereas the socket 370 only has 2.

If you're looking for a heatsink that will fit, you could check into the Alpha PAL6030. Excellent heatsink that will fit any socket A or socket 370.

Oh, yeah. I think it is a socket A 370 mobo. You're right. I looked for the Alpha heatsinks, and they are around $30! noooooo. I am looking into the cheaper coolmaster hs and fan for only $4 from newegg :D

I guess I could order something like that and use the Vantech fan for the power supply.

Also, the old hsf uses two lugs or clip on ends, will three work?
