Your temps are still ok but i wouldn't let them get any higher as the max is 62 deg for the 955.
That 62° is for the Tcase Max, which is measured at the CPU socket, not the core. Tctl Max is for the core and it's 70 for most of the Phenom II's.

Beyond that these CPU's will become unstable, when well overclocked, long before they reach the Tctl Max ...

So now my PC seems to be running about 2-3 degrees hotter. prime95 got as high as 58c in a 2 hour run. gaming went from 45-46c to 48-50c. anything I could do to lower temps?

Hi so does that mean in coretemp i would be safe to run this prosseser at 70 deg before unstability or does that programme use the socket to measure the cpu temperature.
And a happy new year :soda:

CoreTemp, as the name suggests, uses the core, not the socket. I know it's labeled 'CPU' in the newer versions but it's the core temp.

You'll hit instability loooong before you get near a 70 core temp (it's usually around 55 that things get dicey). I was just making sure everyone knew where and what those temp limits were talking about. So many people jump in with that '62' limit when it's not really true - unless you're looking at the socket temp.

BTW - CoreTemp shows the Tctl I was referencing but labels it "Tjmax". ;)
