HI! Long time no speak.

I'v just been browsing the section for 50 minutes trying to find info on thease rare cards. Anywhoo its 2:38am, i cant keep my eyes open and i need mad info for tommorow.

SO here it is, I have an opportunity to buy this card ATI RADEON 9500NP 64MB for like $100 canadian bucks, so like $70 american.

What I do want to do with it is to have it show up in wandaws and Power Strip as an Ati Radeon 9700 Pro. So can I flash the BIOS with an 9700 PRO bios? And will it work? Or will i be typing commands in dos without a screen to look at?

Anywhoo, I cant afford to get my sis a 9700PRO or 98 cause I'm kind unemployed right now.

Any thoughts on how i can doo this?

Thanks in advance,

Kam

you wont be able to flash it to a 9700pro with all the bios in the world because no 9500np flashes to a 9700pro, just 9700s. secondly you can softmod 9500np 64 mb to a 9700 but its as hit and miss as it ever was, i do have one though ive never fully tried to flash it, i did do research on it, in fact there should be a thread in here with my original question

Some 128MB 256bit 9500np's do.

Imo it's softmod to a 9500Pro 64MB because it's not 256bit. 4 ram chips are missing.

For 64MB bios.. maybe one of the big radeon bios threads on rage3d?

yes dmd2 is correct - it would end up being a hybrid r9500pro. all the info is in my sticky folks:)

Q. Can the cards with the "in-line" memory be modded?
A. yes. All 9500non-pro's can be modded, regardless of wether they have "L" (256bit) or "I" (128bit) ram arrangements.

64mb 9500np "I" >> hybrid 64mb 9500p (there arnt any "real" 64mb 9500p's)
128mb 9500np "I" >> 100% 9500pro
128mb 9500np "L" >> 100% 9700non-pro.

Hmm......

Well the dude still has the card so the question is will it at least be able to use the 8 pipes like the pros, the 128 or 256 bit bus doesnt interest me cause i dont think she'll use AA or AF, just high res around 1280 or 1600 for games and AA doesnt make much of a diff around those resolutions.

So it would be a Hybrid 9500 Pro 64Mb ver?

Thanks,

Kam

Unfortunately, there is no way to know if it will run the 8 pipes beforehand.

You just have to try it, and run some bench's or games to see if it will.
