I am hoping you knowledgeable peps can help me determine which mobo to get for my new build?
My chip will be Intel Core i7-3930K Sandy Bridge-E 3.2GHz (3.8GHz Turbo) LGA 2011.
The two mobo's I'm looking at are:
- ASUS P9X79 LE LGA 2011 Intel X79 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard with USB BIOS
- ASUS Sabertooth X79 LGA 2011 Intel X79 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard

My cards are GeForce GTX680, I will be using the Corsair Hydro Series H100i and G.SKILL Trident X Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1866 ram.

If you feel I am off base please shout it out, I look forward to your input please. :)

Why drop almost $1k, when the X 99 boards and Haswell-E is around the corner. Unless you have a need of that kind of horse power, go with Haswell, or the Haswell refresh (Devil's Canyon).

3D modeling, rendering and animation and work with After Effects. I do a lot of work with multiple apps open too. Hope this helps.

I would go with the P9X79, given the two choices.

That said, I would get 4x4GB of RAM, with a 4930K and GA-X79-UP4 if given the choice of all parts.

You'll want the four RAM sticks for quad-channel memory.
You could also just get another set of the memory you already have.

Great, thanks for the heads up on the memory too.
Do you feel the Haswell-E is going to blow my build out of the water...should I wait??

Look at the 3770K vs 4770K, it'll be about the same difference for the 4930K to 5930K.

Okay, sounds good. I'm having trouble now finding ram (4x4GB) that is for LGA 2011 chip platform?? I was hoping to stay with DDR3 1866...any thoughts?

3930k/4930k any of this cpu, you overclock it and you will be very happy with the speed. Very very fast especially from 4.8-5.0ghz OC.

You don't want to be pushing overclocking limits for the kind of work the OP is doing.
