Well i gotta decide if it is really worth keeping my 8800 GTS640, or if I should take the cash today offered for it and just hold out for a 8800GT once they come out

if it is what is is , darn decent just hoping price comes in as anticipated

damn, the 8800gt is looking good, really gonna have to do something with my 8800 320mb when all this happens, maybe get that new 8800 640mb.

Yea. It doesn't make sense for them to put out a card that is 1/3 the price of the GTX that is better than the GTX. Maybe everything will fall in price and I can step up to an Ultra. :D

my point exactly... it would be a HUGE mistake to put a card out thats less in price and better than the gtx. its not like they can use the 8800gts or the 8800gtx cores on the 8800gt.

Don't worry..these scores are bogus since 8800 GT has only 16 TMU and 16 ROP units (compare to GTS's 24 TMU 20 ROP units..and GTX's 32xTMU 24 ROP)

I don't understand it Nvidia is replacing 8800 GTS 320MB with 8800 GT 512MB..slower card!

like i said they wont be putting out a better card than the gtx.

IDK I hope I will be glad to have resisted all the cheap GTS's for sale in the classies over the last couple months when that GT comes out. So far it is looking really good but still waiting for more benches.

Ya you're right Hazaro, how on earth am I going to be able to wait till after Xmas for one of these... I NEED NOW! - LOL

So im in the market for a new DX10 video card. Im still running an old 6600 and it works fine for current stuff but the UT3 demo doesnt work and Crysis is gonna require something better.

I have a hard time ponying up for a 8800GTX at $550 and i am considering a 8800GTS 640 at $319. I have a 20" LCD so I run 1280x1024 res or 1600x1280 if i could.

Should i wait for the 8800GT?

I would like to play the UT3 Demo but i can wait for the release.

$300-350 for a video card is really the price break for me.

What else do you have in your system? If you have a 6600 then it is AGP and the new cards are PCI-E. Are you planning on upgrading your entire system? The 8800 GTX 320 or 640 are both good buys.

Yes I hear you. I have a 20" WS (1680x1050) and my 7900GS is not up to native res on new games :(. With the 8800GT just a couple weeks away I would wait. The price point is right up MY alley and I feel the same way as you about the GTS/GTX cards. If GT performance doesn't look like it's going to suit you than you can always get a used GTS for a good price. Another option I am keeping open ATM.

Actually there is a PCI-E version so that may not be true, although it would be nice if people list their specs out in a sig. Doesn't make much sense to me being on a enthusiast Computer Forum and all.

Thanks for the responses. After looking at more forums it looks like the 8800GT will be worth waiting for rather than buying a 8800GTS 640

I have a DELL 20" 2001FP LCD and the native resolution is 1600x1200
My current rig is a P4 3.0ghz Prescott with a PCIE BFG 6600 128MB video card

I have ordered a new rig all but the Video Card.

The benchmark at 1280x1024 i think is the max that the free version of the benchmark software will do. To do higher res ones you have to buy it. <shrug>

That's 3DMark, UT3 can be set at anything, but for me it hits a cap of 62 fps. There are software programs that override this to lets you see the "real" fps you should get.

I can run UT3 in 1920x1440 for example.
Need more info :bang head
