Hi there! I'm new on this forum. I really improved my pc and i want to take the chance to overclock my new brand CPU.

The matter is... i'm not an expert on the FBS multiplier and i don't know how to OC this processor.

Here is my pc:

Motherboard: ASUS M4N78 SE
http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/AMD_AM2Plus/M4N78_SE/

POWER SUPPLY: Cooler Master Silent Pro M700
http://www.coolermaster.com/product.php?product_id=4202

CPU: AMD Phenom II Black Edition X6 1100T 3.3 GHz Socket AM3

CPU Cooler: Thermaltake Frío OCK CPU Cooler.
http://www.thermaltakeusa.com/Product.aspx?C=1417&ID=2044

RAM: 2 x Kingston DDR2 2gb 800 MHz (4gb Total)

VGA: MSI NVIDIA GForce GTX560 Twin Frozr II
http://www.msi.com/product/vga/N560GTX-Twin-Frozr-II.html

Hard Drive: Seagate 160gb (kinda old, like 8 - 9 years and this baby still works for me ;P)

Operating System: Windows 7 32 bits (I know, shoud have 64 bits)

If someone can give me a link or a how to OC this proc, i will be grateful.

Thanks! :D

You're confusing two things. With a black edition CPU there is no need to use the fsb to overclock. You would be using the CPU multiplier. That's the advantage of a black edition CPU.

I also fear your motherboard power circuits may not be beefy enough to allow for much overclock. The board is rated for 125 watt TDP CPUs and the X6 thubans are going to really pull some juice when you start to overclock. You're also stepping back a technology generation when running an AM3 CPU on an AM2+ board.

Link on how to OC that processor: Here

A few words of warning.
- Overclocking that processor on the motherboard you currently have will most likely end up on a dead motherboard and maybe even other dead components. Your motherboard is not really designed with overclocking in mind, much less a X6 processor that will be pushing the board to its limits even at stock speeds.

- You have the CPU and the video card already. I suggest you keep the PC running stock and save some money so you can buy a more suitable board (AM3 or AM3+ socket is what you want).

- You will need new RAM as well. The good AM3 or AM3+ boards all run DDR3 memory.

Just save yourself the headache. Stay at stock speeds for a while and upgrade your motherboard and RAM when you have some funding.

Hope this helps

OMG thanks for the advices.
So then i'll try to get a AM3 motherboard...
wich one of this page would you recommend?
(not a too expensive one)
http://pcfactory.cl/?categoria=473&papa=292&sucursal=7&pagina=1

i know that page is in spanish, but im from Chile and that page has a store near where i live.

tips in spanish XD!:
menor precio (minor price)
1 dollar = 500 pesos
100 dollars = 50000 pesos

;P

yep... i know ill need some ddr3 memory... :/
but, why that motherboard? it is better for OC?

Spanish is my native language. :D I was born in Colombia.
Cual es tu presupuesto?

This one: http://pcfactory.cl/producto/9026-MB.AMD.M4A88T-M..ALV.(AM3)

Whatever you decide, don't go with ECS or MSI.

You will also need to get some DDR3 memory.

That board will be a little bit better than the original one, but not by much. At least not in the power delivery department.

mi presupuesto es como de 150 dolares (unos 75000 a 80000 pesos chilenos) pero de los 60000 pesos sube hasta mas de 100000 entonces estoy complicado...
aun no se que tarjeta escoger :S

That board will be a little bit better than the original one, but not by much. At least not in the power delivery department.

It's rated for 140W TDP CPUs so it would seem to be a significant step up in the power duty department.

No tienes otra tienda donde buscar? O otro sitio web? El surtido de ese lugar esta mas bien corto.

Translation:
Don't you have another store where you can look for other boards? Or another web store? Selection at that place is rather low.

That board is rated for 140W CPUs, but if you look at the power delivery section you'll notice that it is only a 4+1 power phase and that there is no heatsink over the MOSFETS. The board will hold the 1100T with a mild overclock, but if you push it hard chances are it will blow a MOSFET.
If this is the board the OP goes with; I would suggets putting some heatsinks over the MOSFETS for improved cooling.

That place has an even worse selection, but one of the boards meets your requirements.

It costs a bit more than your budget, but not much.
