Article on amd cpu mining

As I slowly get closer to building a new rig and with the price drop of 5800x to $300. It's temping to finally do the build if I can recuperate cost in a year.

I wonder how my Corsair 650w PSU from 2008 would handle 5800x and 1080 mining. My I have my gpu at 125W @ ~25 hash. 9 fans, pump, 4HDD add up.

I used to mine earnhoney on my 3930k, but that was back when the difficulty was far lower than it is now. I recall it would get $25/month or so back then, but the difficulty varied a lot so not that easy to calculate.

I still mine Swagbucks with the motherboard from a broken Nexus 7, the ARM CPU being low power mean that even though it only makes about $10/month at current difficulty, it's still profitable to run.

I'm mining Monero (XMR) with my two Ryzen CPUs. I get about $30/mo. A 650W is more than enough to mine with a GTX 1080 with a 5800x. My concern would be the age. It's already 13 years old.
